Most people want to make a difference in the world but don’t really know how. But there is something you can do that makes all the difference. It’s called kindness. Money doesn’t have to be involved. It only takes a willing heart.

There are a lot of hurting people who put on a brave face everyday. Deep down their problems are tearing them apart. Some may show symptoms on the outside, for instance they may seem preoccupied, frustrated, irritable or tired. When tough times strike, most people feel like they are only ones going through them. It’s easy to feel alone in the world.

You can help. Let people know you’re thinking about them. Especially if you know folks who are struggling, who’ve been hit with terrible news or facing difficulties. A kind word of encouragement in the form of a note, a phone call or a visit can really help them feel accepted and cared for and it goes a long way in helping them to keep going and pushing through this hard time.

The more you show compassion for others the more you will find that reaching out can break down barriers and soften hearts. Sometimes we get so focused on our own needs that we overlook the needs of others but when you take the time to care, it usually comes back to you. People need to know that others are there for them, thinking of them, praying for them and are concerned about what is going on in their lives.

There are enough critical, fault-finding, rub-salt-in-the-wound people in the world. Don’t push a hurting person further down in the pit, that’s not what you’d like to happen to you in their situation and you don’t have to be part of that. Instead turn your attentions to speaking kindness every time you get the chance. It’s important to let your friends and loved ones know that you’re thinking about them.
